Parent Council

Schools foster the spiritual, physical, intellectual, social and emotional development of all students by using various resources of the community of which they are part. A school must draw on the vast knowledge and expertise available in the community and involve its many resources, especially the family and the parish, in the schooling of children. The Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC) can be the forum through which parents and community can have a voice in education of children. The CSPC shall bring appropriate community resources into the school and shall recognize the right of parents to participate in the Catholic education of their children.

Parent engagement matters. Study after study has shown us that student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their children's education, and that good schools become even better schools when parents are involved. It is recognized that parent engagement is a key factor in the enhancement of student achievement and well-being.

Students are more likely to be motivated, to earn higher grades, to have better behaviour and social skills, and to continue their education to a higher level when their parents are actively engaged in supporting their success at school.
