About Us

At Canadian Martyrs Catholic School, we pride ourselves on the strong partnership that exists among the home, the school and the parish.

How We Meet The Diversified Needs Of Our Students

Over the years, the school has been extended to include a gymnasium, elevator, library and additional classrooms that complement the original, traditional rectangular school design. We service children from Full Day Junior/Senior Kindergarten to Grade 8 by providing a well-rounded blend of academics as well as co-curricular activities. We participate in the sports competitions offered within the Board, in-house leagues, when possible, W5H, hockey, etc.

Our students do well academically, and are encouraged by the high standards of the school, the dedicated staff, and the small school friendly environment. Bi-monthly awards assemblies are held to recognize the Virtues of the Month and the Ontario Catholic School Graduate expectations as lived by the students. In addition to our regular classes, we offer pull-out English as a Second Language (ESL) and Special Education classes.

School History and Tradition

Our school is dedicated to the Canadian Martyrs. These missionaries came to a new land to spread the faith, and gave up their lives in their attempt. We are fortunate to be located adjacent to Canadian Martyrs Church and close the Canadian Martyrs Shrine in Midland, Ontario.

As well as having a close connection to the history of Canada, we have a long history in the East York community. Canadian Martyrs Catholic School celebrated the 50th anniversary of the school in 2002 with a liturgy, family party and community pilgrimage to Canadian Martyrs Shrine. A number of the parents and grandparents of students currently enrolled, also attended Canadian Martyrs Catholic School. They share fond memories of their First Communion and Confirmation celebrations as well as many stories about school days at Canadian Martyrs Catholic School.
