As part of African Canadian Heritage Month and Carnaval D’Hiver, students at Holy Child Catholic School were treated to an unforgettable cultural experience led by renowned Cameroonian artist Njacko Backo. A gifted musician, poet, performer, and writer, Mr. Backo captivated the student body with his vibrant storytelling, music, and dance.

Drawing from his childhood experiences in Cameroon, Mr. Backo shared messages of self-celebration, kindness, and honesty. Through engaging narratives and traditional African rhythms, he inspired students to embrace their identities and treat others with respect.

Students actively participated in the celebration, exploring the rich sounds of traditional African instruments and moving to the energetic beats of cultural dances. The interactive performance not only entertained but also educated, fostering a deeper appreciation for African Canadian heritage and the power of music to bring people together.

Holy Child Catholic School continues to embrace opportunities that highlight cultural diversity and inclusivity, making events like this a meaningful part of students' learning experiences.
