On Saturday, January 24, 2026, the Holy Cross Girls Who Game Club made history by becoming the first TCDSB team to compete at the Level 3 Esports Gaming Tournament, hosted by Microsoft, Dell, and Intel at Centennial College’s Scarborough campus.

After three years of dedication, the team successfully completed all Level 1 and Level 2 challenges, earning an invitation to this elite competition. Girls Who Game is an international initiative led by Microsoft, Dell, and Intel that introduces girls to STEAM fields while providing mentorship from women working in the technology sector.

During the tournament, the team competed against five other schools, completing four fast-paced Minecraft challenges within strict 10–15 minute time limits. Working collaboratively, the girls showcased creativity, innovation, and critical thinking as judges observed their builds and evaluated their final virtual worlds.

The team demonstrated impressive coding, building, and teamwork skills, bringing imaginative projects to life, including a Lost Library, a race track, and a world market—marking a proud milestone for Holy Cross and for girls in esports.

Congratulations to Gabby, Lyla, Vita, Logan, Nola, Kammy, Alliyah, and Sofia for their hard work, dedication, and impressive coding skills, which earned them the Critical Thinking Award. A special thank you to coaches Ms. Kathleen Silva and Ms. Stephanie Katsuras for supporting the team and preparing them for the big day. Game on!
