Dress Code

Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) policy requires that children come to school dressed neatly and in an appropriate manner.

At Our Lady of Wisdom Catholic School, we encourage adherence to a very functional dress code. The Appropriate Dress Code consists of any combination of white and navy-blue garments (e.g., plain white top, navy blue bottom or, navy blue top and bottom, no denim).

  • In a Catholic school where values and respect for self and others are emphasized, bare midriffs and shirts with rude or suggestive messages are not acceptable.

  • Shirts, tee-shirts and dresses which cover the area from the neck to the shoulder are permitted.

  • Tank tops, tight fitting tops, low cut sun dresses or sun tops are inappropriate for school wear.

  • Shorts and skirts should be no shorter than 10cm from the knee.

  • For safety purposes, platform shoes and sandals without straps are not acceptable. The wearing of hats is not permitted inside the school.

Adherence to the dress code will enable students to concentrate at school on their studies. Parents will be notified of infractions. and students will either be sent home or provided with other clothing to wear.

Dress Code in TCDSB Schools

All Elementary schools within the jurisdiction of the Board shall adopt an Appropriate Dress Code or Uniform Dress Code.

Parents are encouraged to review the local dress code at their child’s school and to direct their questions to the principal of the school.
