Students from Sacred Heart Catholic School are celebrating a proud musical achievement after participating in the prestigious UTSC/OBA Small Ensemble Festival.
Held at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus, the festival, organized by the Ontario Band Association, provides young musicians with valuable opportunities to perform, collaborate, and develop their skills in a supportive and inspiring environment.
In the 2026 edition of the festival, Sacred Heart stood out as the only elementary school from the Toronto Catholic District School Board to take part in the initiative. The school’s small ensemble delivered an impressive performance, earning a silver rating from the adjudicators.
The group was led by music teacher and conductor Mr. K. Chung, whose guidance helped the students reach this notable accomplishment. Ensemble members Anushka, Ysabel, Abigail, Ethan, Merleiah, Khloe, and Jewel were all recognized for their dedication and talent.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for the school’s music program and highlights the students’ commitment to excellence. Their success at the festival not only brings pride to their school community but also underscores the importance of arts education in fostering confidence, teamwork, and creativity among young learners.
