On March 23, 2026, St. André Catholic School proudly honoured the enduring legacy of Terry Fox, whose courage and determination sparked a national movement and continues to inspire generations of Canadians.
In partnership with the Terry Fox Foundation, the school welcomed Fred Fox as part of the Foundation’s Gratitude Tour. The visit was organized by Ms. DeMichele and her Grade 3 class to recognize the ongoing efforts of students and staff at St. André for their annual support of the Terry Fox School Run and their continued commitment to advancing Terry’s dream of a world without cancer.
During his presentation, Fred Fox shared powerful insights into his brother’s life and the historic Marathon of Hope. Students learned about Terry Fox’s remarkable journey across Canada and the lasting impact of his mission on cancer research worldwide.
Under the leadership of Principal Samantha Bourdon and Vice Principal Julie Dey, the St. André school community also demonstrated its commitment by raising $1,000 in donations to support the Foundation’s work in funding critical cancer research.
The visit served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of perseverance, compassion, and community spirit, values that continue to define Terry Fox’s legacy and inspire future generations to carry his vision forward.
