On Friday, March 21, 2025, the Scarborough Shooting Stars Basketball Team visited St. Barbara Catholic School, leaving a lasting impact on students by encouraging them to strive for excellence both academically and athletically.
During the visit, the team shared their personal journeys, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, teamwork, hard work, and goal-setting. A highlight of the day was an insightful presentation by the team’s coach, Daniel Mullings, who spoke about the value of dedication and maintaining balance between academics and athletics. He also led the students through a mini mindfulness activity, teaching them techniques to stay calm and focused under pressure.
Adding to the inspiration, team member Danilo Djuricic shared an empowering message: “Your older self is counting on you,” reminding students that the choices they make today will shape their future.
The excitement continued when the team’s lively mascot, ENDSSSO, joined the event, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the presentation.
To conclude the memorable visit, Mr. Yeaher, the school principal, expressed gratitude to the team for their inspiring and motivating message. Special thanks went to Ms. Virrey-Hirata for arranging this impactful visit.
