On the evening of May 30, 2025 (Friday), the gym of St. Barnabas School was transformed into the hauntingly beautiful world of Phantom of the Opera, as students delivered a mesmerizing performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s classic musical.
Directed, produced, and performed entirely by students, the show demonstrated both artistic talent and impressive dedication. The lead roles were brought to life with emotional depth and powerful performances, drawing enthusiastic applause from the packed audience. The students’ dramatic performance delivered a stunning rendition of the musical’s iconic score, while the elaborate set design and costumes reflected careful preparation, done mostly by Holly B.’s father.
"I was brought to tears," said Mrs. Panicker, the school secretary. Holly B. thanked her fellow students, expressing her gratitude for their ability to work together, problem-solve, and create something she could not have done alone.
Audience members, including proud parents, teachers, and fellow students, praised the show’s authenticity and energy. "I felt like I was watching a Broadway-level performance," said one parent. "The Phantom’s presence was chilling, and I didn’t even recognize Alex U. (Phantom)."
From the dramatic chandelier crash to the show’s final haunting notes, the production left viewers both impressed and deeply moved. The student-led initiative not only showcased theatrical excellence but also highlighted the importance of creativity and collaboration within the drama club at St. Barnabas.
As the curtain fell, the cast and crew were met with a standing ovation—a fitting tribute to months of dedication and artistic brilliance.
