Our School
About Us
At St. Charles Catholic School, we take pride in the accomplishments of our students in academics, the arts, athletics, and leadership. Guided by the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations, we are committed to nurturing students who are caring, compassionate, and responsible members of their community. Our learning environment encourages innovation, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, empowering students to reach their full potential.
We are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our families, volunteers, and the wider school community. Through collaboration, open communication, and shared commitment, staff and families work together to support the success and well-being of every student. Regular communication through agendas, newsletters, school events, our website, and ongoing conversations helps strengthen these partnerships and contributes to a positive, supportive learning community.

Mission Statement
At St. Charles Catholic School, our mission is to educate students to their full potential by providing a safe, welcoming and Catholic integrated learning environment, exemplary of a community formed by Catholic beliefs and traditions.
How We Meet The Diverse Needs Of Our Students
At St. Charles Catholic School, every student is valued for their unique strengths, experiences, and needs. We are committed to creating a diverse, safe, and inclusive community rooted in respect and our Catholic faith, where every child is supported in reaching their full potential. As a faith-filled learning community, we nurture the development of the whole person—spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.
We recognize that students learn in different ways and at different paces. Through differentiated instruction, varied learning opportunities, and individualized supports, we strive to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Early identification, collaborative planning, and classroom-based interventions help ensure that every student receives the support they need to succeed.

Student achievement and positive contributions are recognized through our monthly Pride Award assemblies, where students are celebrated for demonstrating these values and making meaningful contributions to their classroom and school community.
Respect for self, others, authority, and property is a cornerstone of school life at St. Charles. Our Code of Conduct promotes responsibility, self-discipline, and accountability, encouraging students to make positive choices and take ownership of their actions. Our expectations for student behaviour include:
Speaking with courtesy and without reference to appearance, colour or family.
Being truthful and honest with others even when we are at fault.
Doing our very best, always and in everything we do.
Showing respect for God’s Church, traditions and truths.
Protecting our environment and all of God’s creation.
In recent years, St. Charles Catholic School has taken measures to ensure the safety of students. A safe arrival program exists whereby parents can contact the school 24 hours a day. If the school does not hear from the parent, the home will be contacted. Students receive safety training, and our discipline code promotes self-discipline and safety for all.
Our School History and Tradition
St. Charles Catholic School opened in the fall of 1952 as one of the first Catholic schools established in the south-central area of North York. Originally serving a newly developed rural community, the school has grown alongside its neighbourhood and today welcomes a diverse student population of over 200 students.
Our school is named after St. Charles Borromeo, a renowned Church leader who devoted his life to the renewal and welfare of the Catholic Church. He played a significant role in the Council of Trent and is remembered for his leadership, service, and commitment to education and faith. His feast day is celebrated on November 4.
Today, St. Charles Catholic School continues to honour its rich history while providing a welcoming, faith-filled environment where students are encouraged to grow in learning, leadership, and service.
