St. Eugene Catholic School welcomed families on Thursday, January 29, for an Early Literacy Parent Night designed to strengthen reading foundations in both French and English. The event brought together parents and students for an engaging evening focused on building essential literacy skills and fostering a love of reading at home.
Throughout the night, families rotated through hands-on literacy stations highlighting key areas such as phonics, fluency, and comprehension. These interactive activities allowed parents to experience practical, research-based strategies they can easily incorporate into daily routines to support their children’s reading development.
In addition to the stations, families received take-home resources to reinforce consistent reading practices at home, helping extend learning beyond the classroom. The evening emphasized the importance of collaboration between school and home in nurturing confident, capable readers.
The Early Literacy Parent Night served as a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the partnership between St. Eugene Catholic School and its families, a partnership that remains central to the community’s shared commitment to enhancing student learning and success.
