About Us

At St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, our faith is at the heart of everything we do. We foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where all students are encouraged to live out Gospel values.

Student Engagement

We create a vibrant Catholic atmosphere through:

  • A caring school culture.

  • Monthly “Student of the Month” assemblies (Primary, Junior, Intermediate).

  • Recognition programs: Honour Roll, Principal’s Awards, Environmental Certificates.

  • Clubs, after-school programs, and extracurricular activities.

These initiatives support student growth, leadership, and a sense of belonging.

Safety and Well-Being

Student safety is a top priority. Our safety measures include:

  • Crossing guard support on Firgrove Crescent.

  • After-school supervision in the traffic circle and school grounds.

  • Safe Arrival and Dismissal Programs: Parents are contacted if a child is absent without prior notice.

  • Late Policy: Late slips must be signed and returned with an explanation.

  • Zero Tolerance for Violence: Enforced both on and off school property.

  • Clear discipline policies, communicated in September and reinforced at monthly assemblies.

Dedicated and Supportive Staff

At St. Francis de Sales, the principal and vice principal believe that strong relationships and differentiated instruction are essential to creating a successful learning environment where all students can thrive.

Teachers foster a strong sense of community in their classrooms. Through collaborative rule-setting, students help establish classroom expectations, which are clearly displayed for everyone to follow.

Our dedicated secretaries and custodians play a vital role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-organized school environment.

We are also supported by a team of Educational Assistants, Child and Youth Workers, and Special Education Teachers who work closely with classroom teachers to support student learning and well-being.

School History and Tradition

St. Francis de Sales Catholic School first opened its doors in 1971. The school is named after St. Francis de Sales, who became the Bishop of Geneva in 1602. He was widely known for his deep kindness and his teachings on how to love God.

Recognizing his contributions to faith and literature, Pope Pius IX declared St. Francis de Sales the patron saint of all Catholic writers.
