The Christmas spirit is in the air at St. Mark Catholic School! On December 14 (Thursday) at 7:00 PM, students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 will participate in a “Christmas through the Decades” Christmas performance. Students will showcase popular Christmas songs through the decades.
In preparation for our Christmas show, the students will be participating in six (6) instructional dance sessions built on the Ministry of Ontario Dance Curriculum and led by professional dancers from The Travelling Stage Dance Company. These sessions are part of the dance curriculum for each grade. As a result, students will receive a grade for their dance instruction which will be reflected on their report card. These dance sessions will culminate in the final Christmas performance.
The Travelling Stage dance workshops will take place from November 20 (Monday) to December 13 (Wednesday). There will be a dress rehearsal on December 14 (Thursday) at 1:00 PM, followed by the evening performance at 7:00 PM.
Due to our Fire Regulations, each family will receive 2 tickets for the evening concert. These tickets will be sent home in an envelope prior to the show. Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend the dress rehearsal - there are no tickets needed to attend this rehearsal.
The regular cost for 6 instructional dance sessions is $21 plus HST/per student. Due to a $1500 dance grant that we received from Daytrippers and from school-initiated fundraising, the cost for 6 instructional dance sessions has been reduced to $15 per student. More information will be sent home shortly regarding the costumes.
Families can pay using the SchoolCash Online system or exact cash by October 31, 2023 (Tuesday).
