The St. Richard Adaptive Climbing and Newcomer Mentorship program highlights a relationship emphasizing collaboration and teamwork between the ESL students and MEDD students at St. Richard. Students have been working together to enjoy learning and playing to promote a sense of community and inclusion through physical activity and classroom games. And with the support of the Experiential Learning Grant, this project also features a 3-session Adaptive Climbing program at Aspire Climbing Whitby.
Aspire Whitby’s Adaptive Climbing program engages athletes of all abilities and encourages accessible physical activities for all. Our students were challenged to reach new heights and accepted this challenge with tremendous support from peers, staff and parent volunteers. Students were also engaged to continue moving and growing on the Ninja course at Aspire Whitby. This obstacle course continued to challenge our students in their problem solving skills, communication and body awareness.
Thank you to Aspire Climbing Whitby and the Experiential Learning program for making this possible and supporting our students in this learning journey.
