About Us

At St. Stephen Catholic School, we pride ourselves on the strong partnership that exists among the home, the school and the parish.

How We Meet the Diversified Needs of Our Students

St. Stephen Catholic School is a large elementary school in Etobicoke with a diverse student population that places a great deal of importance on providing for students with different strengths and needs. We are committed to the mission statement of the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), with everything focusing on our Catholic community. Within our diverse community, our Catholic faith is our common bond. Daily prayers, liturgical celebrations, a cross-curricular focus on Catholic virtues and our interactions with each other all contribute to our inclusive faith community.

School History And Tradition

St. Stephen Catholic School opened in September 1961. Presently we are serving a multicultural community from Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 8. More than half of our students speak a language other than English at home.

Central to the curriculum of St. Stephen Catholic School is the development and nurturing of our Catholic faith, and creating an atmosphere that emphasizes the importance of dialogue between home, school and parish. Our school patron, Saint Stephen, was the first Christian martyr. His was a story of preaching the good news. So strong was his witness, the authorities of the day had him stoned to death. His feast is celebrated on December 26. Our students are encouraged to act out their Christian witness in their everyday relationships.
