Creative and reflective thinkers
Discerning believers
Collaborative contributors
Lifelong learners
A Safe and Supportive Community
We are committed to fostering a safe, welcoming space that reflects the mission of the Toronto Catholic District School Board. Our daily interactions with students, families, and community members are positive and child-centered. Together, we support the development of the whole child—intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
We value parent engagement and strive to keep families informed and involved throughout the year.
Operation Kindness
Operation Kindness is a core part of our school culture. Based on the Golden Rule—Treat others the way you would like to be treated—this initiative encourages empathy, respect, and kindness in everyday actions. We invite you to ask your child about how they practice Operation Kindness at school and how you can join in at home.

School History and Tradition
St. Sylvester Catholic School officially opened in 1975. On September 7, 1976, founding principal Richard McIsaac welcomed 114 students and nine teachers. The school began with six split-grade classes and has since grown to serve nearly 200 students annually, consistently graduating outstanding individuals.
A Tradition of Growth and Community
Over the years, our school has developed strong traditions shaped by the dedication of staff, parents, students, and our parish. We are committed to nurturing the academic, spiritual, emotional, and physical development of every child.
Our Catholic identity is central to school life. We celebrate monthly virtues, hold regular liturgies and school Masses, and welcome visits from our parish pastor. These practices help deepen our shared faith among students, staff, and families.
Our Patron Saint
St. Sylvester, our patron, was a wise and strong leader who lived in Italy during the 1100s. He founded a new order of Benedictine monks and served as their abbot. His feast day is celebrated on December 31.
