About Us

At St. Wilfrid Catholic School, we are dedicated to nurturing each student’s potential while fostering a strong foundation in the Catholic faith. We encourage students to apply Christian values to life’s opportunities, challenges, and choices.

Safe and Supportive Environment

We prioritize a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment where all students can thrive. A shared code of conduct helps maintain respectful and productive learning spaces for everyone.

Collaborative and Outcome-Focused Learning

Our curriculum is rooted in Catholic educational philosophy. It is inclusive, outcome-focused, and designed to support the growth and success of every student.

Our integrated curriculum promotes meaningful learning experiences, and student progress is measured against provincial standards.

Collaboration among teachers, parents, students, and the local community is central to our approach. Together, we support student achievement and well-being.

School History and Tradition

  • We were founded in 1966 and have built a strong reputation for the dedication of our teaching staff and parent community.

  • We have a long-standing tradition of academic excellence, supported by the commitment and collaboration of our school community.

  • Our school motto, symbolized by two hands clasped in friendship between an adult and child, reflects our shared commitment to:

    • Integrity

    • Perseverance

    • Excellence in all we do

Our Patron Saint

  • We are named after Saint Wilfrid, a courageous leader in the early English Church.

  • Saint Wilfrid was born in 634 AD and became:

    • Abbot of Ripon in 658

    • Bishop of York in 669

  • He played an important role in introducing Roman practices to northern England and establishing Benedictine monasteries.

  • We look to Saint Wilfrid's unwavering faith, courage, and leadership as an inspiration for our school community.

  • We celebrate Saint Wilfrid's feast day on October 12 each year.
