On Friday, September 15, 2023, D’Arcy McGee was a proud host to the Director of Education of the TCDSB, Dr. Brendan Browne. He was accompanied by our Superintendent of Schools for Area 5, Mr. Robert D’Addario.
Upon their arrival, they were gladly welcomed by Mr. Sampson Yeaher, the school’s principal who facilitated the Director’s tour of D’Arcy McGee’s school community. Director Browne visited two classrooms and interacted with both students and staff, some of whom were meeting the Director face-to-face for the first time.
Director Browne explained his role as Director of Education to the students and then opened up the floor for the students to ask questions. His passion for students’ achievement and well-being was revealed in his responses to the students’ questions. Director Browne was also able to meet with some of the current officials of the school’s CSPC.
D'Arcy McGee is one of the schools within the TCDSB that provide a French Extended program where instruction is provided in French for approximately 50% of the day from Grades 5 to 8. The elementary school curriculum for Extended French is designed to prepare students for success in the corresponding program at the secondary level.
It was a fulfilling visit, and we welcome them back anytime.
