James Cardinal McGuigan (JCM) Catholic High School is proud to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of one of its 2024 graduates, Yonadab Sameer. A standout student in both the Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) Program and the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM), Yonadab has been awarded the prestigious Retail Council of Canada Scholarship, a national honour recognizing innovation, leadership, and academic excellence in the field of retail and technology.
Now pursuing Computer Science at York University, Yonadab continues to build on the strong foundation laid at JCM. During his Grade 12 year, he worked on an innovative project as part of the school's annual STEAM Fair developing a computer program designed to help IKEA staff streamline the process of preparing online orders. The project focused on optimizing the sorting and pickup system, ultimately improving efficiency for both employees and customers.
What began as a classroom concept has since evolved into a real world solution that is now being further developed in partnership with industry. Yonadab’s commitment to innovation, problem-solving, and community focused technology demonstrates the very best of what JCM’s STEAM and SHSM programs aim to inspire.
Please join the entire James Cardinal McGuigan community in congratulating Yonadab Sameer on this incredible achievement. We look forward to seeing all the great things he will accomplish as he continues to use his skills to make meaningful change.
