Congratulations to James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School's Eghosa E. for dominating the Canadian Track and Field Championships and claiming three national championships through the summer! This summer marked a historic chapter in Canadian youth athletics as Eghosa, a rising track and field phenomenon, firmly established himself as Canada’s top ranked U18 and U20 male discus thrower.
Eghosa’s golden streak began in Calgary, at the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships, where he dominated the U18 boys' field, claiming Gold in both the Discus and Shot Put events. With these victories, he soared to #1 in Canada for U18 Discus and Shot Put an extraordinary accomplishment for an athlete still climbing the ranks.
But Eghosa wasn’t done.
Just weeks later in Ottawa, at the Canada Senior Track and Field Championships, Eghosa stepped up to compete against older athletes in the U20 division and once again, rose to the occasion. He delivered a commanding performance in the Discus, taking Gold and securing his position as Canada’s #1 U20 Discus thrower. He also earned a hard fought Silver medal in U20 Shot Put, cementing his place as one of the most promising young throwers in the nation.
A Journey Rooted in Discipline and Discovery
Eghosa’s story is one of year-round dedication both on the field and in the classroom. Balancing academics with elite athletic training isn’t easy, but Eghosa has consistently proven himself a committed and focused student athlete. His journey began when his school track coach recognized his natural talent and helped connect him with Project Athletic, a competitive club team known for developing young talent.
Under the guidance of his coaches and mentors, Eghosa has honed his technique, strengthened his mindset, and embraced the daily grind of elite preparation. From early morning weight room sessions to long evenings reviewing throws, his work ethic is unmatched.
Eyes on the Future
Eghosa’s dominance hasn’t gone unnoticed south of the border, college scouts are paying attention. With NCAA scholarship opportunities already on the horizon, his potential path to international competition and collegiate athletics is quickly taking shape.
For now, Eghosa remains grounded in his goals: to keep improving, stay healthy, and continue representing his school, his club, and his country with pride.
Canada may have just found its next great thrower, and his name is Eghosa E!
