James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic Secondary School's Coach Nick Vescio has been awarded the Ontario Coaches Excellence Award, recognizing the outstanding contributions he has made to student-athletes and school sport.
The Ontario Coaches Excellence Award is Ontario’s highest coaching honour across all sports and levels. It is annually awarded to exemplary coaches across Ontario for the integral role they play with their team(s), sport and community. Winning coaches were recognized during a special VIP CFL celebration at BMO Field, and are also awarded a $500 prize to be used on purchases they make for their team, club or organization.
Since joining the JCM community in 2022, Nick has made a significant impact on our student/athletes. From leading our Track and Field team to three consecutive OFSAA Championships, to launching our school’s first-ever football program, sending numerous kids on post-secondary scholarships and growing JCM's HPA program as the Program Coordinator, his dedication, passion, and leadership have truly transformed athletics at the school.
This provincial recognition is a testament to the countless hours Nick devotes to mentoring our students and creating opportunities for their growth and success, both on and off the track/field.
