James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School's High Performance Athletic Division is proud to announce a new collaboration with the Toronto Blue Jays’ charitable arm, the Jays Care Foundation. Our school has been officially selected as a 2025–2026 Jays Care Affiliate School, marking a major achievement for our athletic division and our broader school community.
This accomplishment is the direct result of the outstanding leadership demonstrated by Mr. Imbrogno and Ms. Altomare, who spearheaded this collaboration from the outset. Over several days and numerous hours of preparation, follow-up, and coordination, they worked diligently to ensure that James Cardinal McGuigan High Performance Athletic Division met all requirements to qualify for this opportunity. Their commitment, perseverance, and vision have opened the door for our student-athletes to access meaningful new programming, resources, and experiences.
The Jays Care Foundation, which supports more than 60,000 children and youth across Canada, uses baseball as a powerful tool to build confidence, develop life skills, and strengthen peer relationships. According to the program materials, last year 97% of educators saw students gain a greater interest in baseball or softball, and 96% reported improved positive peer connections as a result of the Affiliate School experience. These outcomes align directly with the goals of our High Performance Athletic Division, which is committed to developing the whole student-athlete through sport, character, and community engagement.
Today marked the first official day of this collaboration, and the excitement among students and staff was unmistakable. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Toronto Blue Jays and the Jays Care Foundation for welcoming James Cardinal McGuigan High Performance Athletic Division into their Affiliate School Program and for their ongoing commitment to empowering youth through sport.
This partnership represents a significant step forward in expanding equitable athletic opportunities for our students, and we look forward to the positive impact it will bring to the James Cardinal McGuigan community.
