James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School proudly hosted our Second Annual High Performance Athletic (HPA) Combine, marking a significant milestone for our school community and our elite athletics program.
Held at York University’s Toronto Track and Field Centre, the combine welcomed over 200 student-athletes who competed in a series of high-level athletic assessments. The venue highlighted JCM’s continued partnership with York University, providing student-athletes access to world-class facilities and reinforcing strong connections to post-secondary athletics and education.
Throughout the day, participants demonstrated not only speed, strength, and skill, but also discipline, character, and coachability—key traits that define success within the HPA program. The combine reflected the rigorous standards of the program, which is widely recognized as the most exclusive program in the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).
JCM extends sincere appreciation to all staff members who participated in the draft and evaluation process. Their dedication and expertise were instrumental in delivering a professional, well-organized, and meaningful experience for every student-athlete involved.
Parents and student-athletes alike expressed strong enthusiasm for the event and the program:
One parent shared:
"The organization and professionalism of this combine were outstanding. It gave us confidence that our child will be supported both academically and athletically over the next four years."
Another parent noted:
“JCM’s High Performance Athletics program is truly something special. The expectations are high, and it’s clear the staff are deeply invested in developing the whole student, not just the athlete."
One incoming student-athlete added:
“Being part of the HPA Combine motivated me to push myself. Competing at York University and being selected for this program makes me excited to work harder and represent JCM with pride.”
As James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School welcomes the incoming class, the school looks forward to an incredible next four years fostering, nurturing, and developing student-athletes both academically and athletically. The future of HPA at JCM is bright, and this event was a powerful reflection of the program’s continued growth and excellence.
