On Saturday, April 11, 2026, the Skills Ontario qualifying competitions were held at Humber Polytechnic. James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic Secondary School (JCM)’s team of Hyriel C. and Alijandro I.S. earned first place, securing a gold medal, while JCM’s team of Jordan P. and O’Neil J. earned third place, taking home a bronze medal. The teams competed against 17 teams from public and Catholic school boards across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

These teams will join JCM’s 2D Animation, 3D Animation, and Job Interview students who have already qualified for the Skills Ontario Provincial Competition in May. This marks coach Mr. Marco Summaria’s 39th and 40th medals at various skills competitions, as well as his 14th consecutive year advancing to the provincial level.

We wish the teams the best of luck at the upcoming competition!
