Students from the STEAM and Communications Technology programs at James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School delivered an outstanding performance at the 2026 Skills Ontario Competition, bringing home multiple medals and making school history in the process.

Coached by Mr. Summaria and Ms. Do Rego, McGuigan students Melanie H. and Tori F. earned a silver medal in the highly competitive 2D Animation category, marking a major milestone for the school’s growing animation program and showcasing the creativity and technical talent of our students.

In TV/Video Production, McGuigan students O'Neil J., Jordan P., Hyriel C., and Alijandro I.S. once again "owned the podium", earning both the gold and bronze medals against some of the top student competitors from across the province. The gold medal team will now advance to the Skills Canada National Competition, where they will represent not only our school and board, but the entire province of Ontario on the national stage.

Mr. Marco Summaria became one of only a few teachers in the history of the competition across the country to receive multiple provincial medals at one event.

We wish the team good luck at the Skills Canada National Competition May 27 to 30, 2026.
