The James Cardinal McGuigan Catholic High School and St. Jerome Catholic School communities are celebrating a historic milestone as standout student-athlete Eghosa E. has signed a full athletic scholarship to attend Barton Community College in Kansas, where he will continue his academic and athletic career in track and field.

Fresh off his record 6th Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Track and Field Medal (5 Gold and 1 Bronze), Eghosa is one of the most accomplished throwers in Canadian high school athletics. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy at James Cardinal McGuigan. His journey from promising young athlete to one of the nation’s elite throwers is a testament to years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance.

James Cardinal McGuigan has built a reputation as one of Ontario’s premier high school track and field programs. Over the years, the Wolf Pack has produced provincial champions, nationally ranked athletes, and scholarship recipients who have gone on to compete at the collegiate level. The program's culture of excellence, high-performance training, and commitment to athlete development has made it a powerhouse in Canadian high school track and field. Recent national champions and top-ranked athletes have further strengthened the school's standing among the country's elite programs.

Among the program's brightest stars has been Eghosa. Competing in the throwing events, he established himself as the top U20 thrower in Canada, earning national recognition in both discus and shot put. His accomplishments include multiple national championships, OFSAA gold medals, and top rankings in the country. He captured national titles at the Legion National Youth Track and Field Championships and continued his dominance by winning at the U20 level against older competitors. His performances earned him the distinction of being ranked No. 1 in Canada in the U20 discus and shot put.

Throughout his career at James Cardinal McGuigan, Eghosa consistently delivered on the biggest stages. Whether representing his school, club, or province, he showcased a combination of power, technique, and competitive maturity that made him one of the most feared throwers in the country. His achievements helped elevate the Wolf Pack's reputation as a national track and field powerhouse and inspired younger athletes within the program to pursue excellence.

The opportunity to continue his career at Barton Community College represents the next step in a journey that has already been filled with extraordinary success. Known for its strong track and field tradition and history of developing elite collegiate athletes, Barton provides an ideal environment for Eghosa to continue growing as both a student and competitor.
