Over the past several months at James Culnan Catholic School, Principal Persad, alongside a dedicated team of teachers Nikolas Filice and Jan Moryk, has worked collaboratively in discussions around how AI could support students. Understanding the needs of the students, these ongoing conversations deepened, and the team developed a robust framework designed to bridge the gap between emerging technology and everyday classroom practice.

James Culnan's initiative is rooted in the belief that AI is not an "easy way out" or a replacement for the rigors of learning. Rather, it is a powerful scaffold that supports how technology can help students with complex problem-solving, digital literacy, and self-directed inquiry. By integrating these tools, we are preparing students for a 21st-century landscape where AI is a ubiquitous partner. Our goal is to move beyond passive consumption and empower students to become active creators who use technology to amplify their unique voices.

A core focus of our work has been the intentional support of English Language Learners and students with diverse learning abilities. AI provides a transformative opportunity to level the playing field by offering personalized entry points into complex curriculum.
