Students at Monsignor Percy Johnson Catholic Secondary School are gaining hands-on experience in the skilled trades through Hairstyling and Aesthetics courses offered by the Technological Education department. Each year, MPJ students and Accelerated Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) students—who can earn apprenticeship hours and industry experience while still in high school— come together from across the Toronto Catholic District School Board to learn, create, and build real-world skills alongside dedicated staff.

Just in time for Semester II, the program received new state-of-the-art hairstyling tools and accessories, enhancing an already engaging learning environment. These upgrades allow students to train with current industry equipment while developing confidence, creativity, and essential workplace skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and time management. With fresh tools in hand, students are preparing for certifications, careers, and bright futures in the skilled trades.
