Students and staff at Monsignor Percy Johnson Catholic Secondary School came together on Tuesday, February 17, to celebrate Shrove Tuesday with a cherished school tradition, making and sharing pancakes.

The event brought members of the school community together in a spirit of fellowship and reflection as they prepared for Ash Wednesday and the beginning of the Lenten season. Classrooms and common areas were filled with conversation, laughter, and the aroma of freshly made pancakes, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the school.

Shrove Tuesday, observed the day before Ash Wednesday, has long been associated with the tradition of using up rich ingredients such as eggs, milk, and sugar ahead of the more solemn and reflective season of Lent. At Monsignor Percy Johnson Catholic Secondary School, the annual pancake gathering serves not only as a nod to this tradition but also as an opportunity to strengthen community bonds.

By sharing in the simple act of preparing and enjoying food together, students and staff marked the occasion with gratitude and unity, setting a thoughtful tone for the Lenten journey ahead.
