Our Lady of Lourdes Launches Filipino Canadian Heritage Month Celebrations

On June 8, Our Lady of Lourdes began its Filipino Canadian Heritage Month celebrations with engaging and interactive presentations by the Filipino Centre Toronto and Combat Science, highlighting the rich history and traditions of the Philippines.

Combat Science led an exciting demonstration of Filipino martial arts, including Arnis, Kali, and Eskrima. Students learned about the cultural significance of these martial arts while witnessing impressive displays of skill and discipline.

Students also participated in a lively Tinikling demonstration, a traditional Filipino folk dance that showcases teamwork, rhythm, and coordination.

These experiences provided meaningful opportunities for staff and students to celebrate diversity and deepen their appreciation of the vibrant heritage of the Filipino community.

The school extends sincere thanks to Jodelyn Huang (TCDSB Community Relations Officer) and Ms. Martino for organizing these special presentations, as well as to the guest presenters for sharing their knowledge and passion.
