On Wednesday, May 10, 2023, Grade 7 and 8 gifted students from Holy Name Gifted Centre, Our Lady of Sorrows Gifted Centre, St. Bruno/St. Raymond Gifted Centre and St. Louis Gifted Centre participated in the Let's Talk Science Challenge at Hart House at the University of Toronto. The Let's Talk Science Challenge is a team-based competitive event that includes an exciting Question & Answer Competition, a hands-on Engineering Challenge, and a team spirit activity.
This was a worthy challenge that helped students understand and appreciate the many facets of the world of science. The respective classes worked tirelessly for months in preparation for this challenge. Over 100 students participated from all types of academic institutions. The Gifted Centers at these schools produced several winning teams.
Congratulations to Holy Name Gifted Centre who placed first and second overall and St. Louis Gifted Centre for placing third in the Engineering Challenge.
We thank the University of Toronto, Let's Talk Science and all the teachers of the Gifted Centres - Ms. McCool, Ms. Pullano, Mr. Satura and Ms. Wong who facilitated students with this unique experience.
