Our Lady of Wisdom (OLW) proudly marked the beginning of African Canadian Heritage Month with a vibrant Steel Drum concert and fashion show. Students took part in meaningful learning about the history of the steel pan, the cultural significance of the music, and the origins of the steel drum.
The OLW African Canadian Heritage Committee, made up of staff and students, also highlighted African fashion by exploring the traditions and symbolism behind colours and patterns in African clothing.
Thank you to teachers Mme. Camellia, Mr. Mabouama, Mme. Badjoko, and Mme. Hechter for their leadership and collaboration in bringing these enriching experiences to our school community.
