Students at St. Anthony Catholic School gathered this week to commemorate Remembrance Day, honouring the brave men and women from their local neighbourhood who served and sacrificed in times of conflict.
The ceremony included prayer, readings, and reflective messages prepared by students. Many took time to research local soldiers and community members who served in the Canadian Armed Forces, connecting the history of global conflicts to the people, families, and stories that have shaped their own neighbourhood.
Teachers and staff noted that the learning experience went beyond history lessons. Students engaged in conversations about peace, citizenship, empathy, and responsibility, discussing how remembrance calls on everyone to work toward a more compassionate and just world.
The school community concluded the ceremony with a moment of silence and the recitation of prayer, asking for peace across the world and strength for all those affected by war.
Lest we forget.
