Kindergarten students at St. Anthony Catholic School were proud to take part in the beloved Shepherd on the Search initiative, a faith-centered activity designed to help young learners prepare their hearts for Christmas.
The project began with the shepherd’s arrival in the classroom, sparking excitement as students eagerly wondered where he might travel next. Each day, the children search for his new location, turning the simple activity into a joyful journey of discovery.
Beyond the fun of the daily search, the initiative encourages students to learn about the importance of charity and kindness. Children are invited to complete peaceful and thoughtful acts, adding pieces of “hay” to the classroom manger with every good deed. As the manger fills, so too do their hearts.
Teachers shared that the shepherd moves closer to the stable house only when he senses the children’s love for Baby Jesus growing through their actions. The message has resonated deeply with the young students, who are excited to see how their kindness brings the shepherd closer to the nativity scene.
The activity continues to inspire the school as students learn, give, and prepare for the true meaning of Christmas.
