About Us
St. Augustine Catholic School is a welcoming and diverse community where families from many cultural backgrounds come together to learn, grow, and succeed. We celebrate diversity as a strength and work to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where every child can reach their full potential. Guided by a Christ-centred vision and working in partnership with families, our parish, and the wider community, we also support newcomer families by connecting them with school and community resources.

Strong partnerships between home, school, and parish are essential to student success. We work with all members of our school community to provide a Christ-centred education in a welcoming and collaborative environment.
Our History and Diverse Community
Opened in 1969 to serve a predominantly Italian community, our school now reflects Toronto’s rich cultural diversity, welcoming students and families from many linguistic and cultural backgrounds. We support newcomer families through English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers, multilingual staff, and a settlement worker who can assist with language learning, education, housing, employment, and community services.
Catholic Identity and Whole-Child Education
Rooted in Catholic beliefs and traditions, we are committed to educating the whole child and supporting students’ spiritual, academic, social, emotional, and personal development. Our inclusive learning environment recognizes each student’s unique strengths, interests, and needs. Literacy and numeracy are central to our academic program, supported by differentiated instruction, targeted interventions, EMPOWER Reading, Junior Literacy initiatives, special education, and guidance services.
Enrichment and Student Engagement
Students are encouraged to explore their interests through artistic, athletic, leadership, and service opportunities, including performances, Scientists in Schools, athletic teams, the ME to We Club, food drives, and local and global service initiatives. We promote respect, responsibility, and self-discipline through our Code of Behaviour, while restorative practices and conflict resolution support positive relationships. Our Catholic faith is woven throughout school life through daily prayer, liturgical celebrations, and Advent and Lenten reflections, encouraging students to grow as compassionate, responsible, and faith-filled members of our community.
