St. Basil-the-Great College School's Library book club was established in 2009 for the literary engagement of both staff and students. This year, the group celebrated in style with a "High Tea Book Club Luncheon". Led by the Teacher -Librarian, the group concluded their second book club pick for the year with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles.
All students gathered in the library for a celebratory high-tea-style luncheon of finger sandwiches, biscuits, and sweet treats. Fellow staff members who have read the novel in the past joined in the festivities and discussed perspectives with students, strengthening relations with other caring adults in the building such as support staff, English Language Learners (ELL) staff and the Chaplain.
As a best practice, the event marked a great way students and staff can share ideas about literature outside class time, thus building a love for reading in the school and inspiring other budding book club members to join in on the school community fun!
