In their Italian and Religion classes, Grade 7 students from St. Brigid Catholic School created and presented a story about the origins of the Nativity Scene tradition, beginning with St. Francis, il Presepe.
Over several weeks, students prepared a Bethlehem village using various materials. Also, as a French Immersion class, they read a book to learn more about the first Greccio Nativity Scene.
Inspired by the Italian nativity scene style and hoping to share the good news, students recreated the perfect setting for the Holy Night. The atmosphere was filled with Christmas spirit, with a focus on light, music, set design, costumes, and an immersive learning experience.
They joyfully presented to the Primary and Junior grades, answering questions and allowing younger students to explore the details of the village while a group sang Italian Christmas songs.
As St. Francis invited us long ago, let us contemplate the mystery of the season, Come Emmanuel!
