St. Brigid Catholic School will receive funding from the City of Toronto’s Climate Change Grant Program. This project enables a teacher and students to use smart technology to grow microgreens in the classroom throughout the year. They will study urban gardens and microgreens, and monitor growth by measuring water consumption, CO2 emissions, and seed development.

After the first harvest, students will use the microgreens to prepare healthy recipes. Workshops for junior and primary students will promote sustainability and healthy nutrition in the community through hands-on activities.
