In recognition of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the St. Cecilia Catholic School community came together for our Orange heART Project: a whole-school expression of learning, reflection, hope, and reconciliation.
Each class created beautiful orange hearts featuring words, phrases, and symbols of hope, respect, kindness, reconciliation, and belonging. In total, our students created over 500 individual hearts, with every class contributing to this meaningful school-wide initiative. Our St. Cecilia Leadership Team brought the contributions together to create a collaborative Tree of Life, now proudly displayed at the front of our school. The tree connects our learning to the TCDSB Tree of Life curriculum, reminding us of the importance of relationships, interconnectedness, respect for Indigenous Peoples, and our shared responsibility to learn and grow together.
More than a display, the Orange heART Project represents our school's ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. Every heart on the tree carries the voice of a student and, together, more than 500 hearts demonstrate what can happen when an entire school community contributes to the common message that Every Child Matters.
Thank you to our students, staff, families, and Leadership Team for helping bring this project to life and for making Truth and Reconciliation a meaningful part of our learning at St. Cecilia!
