Our School
About Us
At St. John Bosco Catholic School, we value the strong partnership between home, school, and parish. Together, we support the growth and development of every student in a caring, faith-filled environment.
A Catholic Learning Environment
We integrate Catholic values into daily school life through:
Gospel values modelled by staff and embedded in the curriculum.
Religious statues of Christ and St. John Bosco in key areas.
Bulletin boards with faith-based themes.
Classroom prayer centres and daily prayers.
Regular religious instruction.
Class visits from our parish priest.
School and class masses with student participation.
An active liturgical committee.
Code of Behaviour
We are committed to nurturing each student’s intellectual, physical, creative, and social development within a Christian community. Our behaviour code promotes self-discipline through respect—for oneself, others, school property, and the environment—rather than fear of punishment.
Key principles include:
Recognition of each student’s dignity and uniqueness.
Encouragement of socially responsible behaviour.
Collaborative development of rules and consequences.
Safe Arrival Program
To help ensure students arrive safely and are accounted for each morning, we follow these practices:
Staff greet students as they arrive by bus.
Teachers supervise the school yard starting at 8:15 AM.
Staff are stationed at stairwell landings to welcome students.
Parents can report absences via voicemail before school starts.
Attendance is recorded twice daily, and absences are verified by phone.
Curriculum Alignment with Provincial Standards
We continuously adapt our programs to meet provincial expectations through:
School-based committees
Consultation with resource experts
Staff workshops and presentations
Student-focused sessions, such as Scientists in the Classroom
Co-Curricular Activities
We offer a variety of programs to enrich student life:
House league and school team sports.
Curriculum-related field trips.
Music, art, and school-wide presentations.
Health and safety sessions led by community partners.
Sacramental celebrations including Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.

School History
St. John Bosco Catholic School was originally established in 1965 under the name St. Sebastian, with John Ferrigan serving as the first principal. In 1972, a new school opened under the same name, and the original site was renamed St. John Bosco Catholic School, reflecting its connection to St. John Bosco Parish. That year, enrollment reached 717 students, with Steve Loftus as principal.
Our Patron Saint
Our school is named after St. John Bosco, a renowned educator and advocate for youth, especially orphans. He is recognized worldwide as the patron saint of youth and Catholic education. Inspired by his legacy, we strive to reflect his values in our Catholic teachings, school culture, and daily activities.
