Students in Ms. Balthazaar’s Grade 3 class at St. John Vianney Catholic School stepped into the shoes of influential Asian Canadians this week as they hosted an engaging and educational “Asian Canadian Wax Museum.”
As part of the project, students researched prominent Asian Canadians and transformed their classroom into an interactive museum exhibit. Dressed in character and speaking in role, students shared facts and stories about the lives and accomplishments of notable Canadians of Asian heritage.
Among the featured figures were media personality Pooja Handa, broadcaster Hazel Mae, actor Simu Liu, former Governor General Adrienne Clarkson, and community advocate Jean Lumb.
Students proudly displayed posters highlighting their research and enthusiastically presented their chosen historical figures to visitors. The wax museum welcomed primary students, parents, and staff members, who toured the exhibits and interacted with the young presenters.
The event provided students with an opportunity to strengthen their research, public speaking, and presentation skills while also celebrating the contributions of Asian Canadians to Canadian society.
Visitors praised the creativity and effort displayed by the students, while the young historians were excited to share their learning through this memorable, hands-on experience.
