PARTY PREVENT Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth banner

Last month, Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) students from St. Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School attended Sunnybrook’s Youth Safety Lab.

The Youth Safety Lab, located at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s Bayview Campus, hosted our students for the Prevent Alcohol and Risk-Related Trauma in Youth (P.A.R.T.Y.) Program—a one-day injury awareness and prevention initiative for youth.

Developed in 1986 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the P.A.R.T.Y. Program is an important part of the ongoing community effort to reduce death and injury caused by alcohol, drug, and risk-related crashes and incidents.

In the afternoon, students completed the STOP THE BLEED® Certification Course, which helped them build confidence and practical life-saving skills for addressing critical bleeding emergencies. They learned how to identify severe bleeding and control it through compression, wound packing, and tourniquet application.

Our students found the day highly informative and left the Youth Safety Lab equipped with valuable knowledge and skills to help prevent and manage injuries. Thank you to everyone who helped organize this meaningful experience!
