Students from the Tamil Student Association and Chaplaincy team at St. Mother Teresa Catholic Academy gathered on Friday, May 15, for a special liturgy in observance of Tamil Genocide Education Week, which takes place from May 12 to 18.

The liturgy served as a meaningful opportunity for prayer, remembrance, and reflection as students and staff honoured the innocent lives lost and prayed for all those affected by injustice and suffering.

The liturgy also highlighted the school community’s commitment to faith, compassion, and social justice. Through prayer and reflection, students were reminded of the importance of recognizing human dignity and standing in solidarity with those facing hardship and persecution.

Tamil Genocide Education Week is recognized annually as a time to educate students while honouring victims and survivors and encouraging the school community to participate in ongoing dialogue about human rights, justice, and reconciliation.
