St. Mother Teresa Catholic Academy (SMTCA) hosted Camp Olympia Leadership Camp, an event that brought together student leaders from across the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) to network, participate in activities, and attend leadership workshops. The weekend included 12 other schools and centered around the theme “Rewind Weekend,” encouraging students to “Rewind the Past and Redefine the Future.”
The weekend began with a spectacular opening ceremony organized by the SMTCA Core Team, featuring cameos and voiceovers from Rick Campanelli of MuchMusic and Shem Parkinson from Kiss 92.5.
The Core Team spent many months planning and organizing the event for more than 300 students, making it one of the largest Camp Olympia gatherings in recent years. To bring back old-school vibes, each school was assigned a retro TV show to represent throughout the weekend. From The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to The Magic School Bus, every school showcased its creativity through impressive lip-sync performances and spirited school cheers. Students also embraced the theme through a variety of planned game shows and activities, including The Match Game, Family Feud, and even an Amazing Race challenge.
Despite the cold weather, students brought incredible energy and enthusiasm, making SMTCA proud through their hosting abilities and organization. It was truly an unforgettable weekend for everyone who attended, and the Grade 11 and 12 Core Team members represented the school exceptionally well.
SMTCA’s leadership team also attended, representing the TV show Teen Titans with outstanding enthusiasm and school spirit. Overall, the weekend was a tremendous success, helping students grow into stronger leaders while creating memories they will never forget. Opportunities to host such a major board-wide event are rare, and the team did a fantastic job. Their teacher moderators, Ms. Trabona and Ms. Philip-Joseph, are beyond proud of the amazing team and all they accomplished.
