Congratulations to Coalesce, Dante Alighieri Academy Catholic Secondary School's Hip-Hop Team, for taking home first place and a $500 cash prize at the first annual Dance to Your Heart’s Content Afro-Caribbean Dance Competition held on May 13, 2024 (Monday).

It was a beautiful night of dance, highlighting the rich cultural diversity of the African and Caribbean Diasporas. Founded by Nicole Boye, the goal of the competition is to create opportunities for youth to showcase their talents, while also celebrating their culture. The mission is inspired by a quote from Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman to be elected into Congress, “if they don’t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” The dancers were empowered to claim their space on that stage!

A shout out goes to team choreographer Victoria F. for her commitment and dedication to the team!

Coalesce will be continuing to rehearse for their upcoming competition at their home stomping grounds, Dante Alighieri, for the ENDGAME finals on June 4, 2024!
