Students at St. Benedict Catholic School enjoyed a fun-filled day of discovery as Dairy Farmers of Canada returned for an interactive learning experience exploring dairy farming and its important role in Ontario communities.

Led by dairy farmer Dawn, the engaging classroom visit gave students an inside look at how dairy products make their journey from the farm to the fridge. Through a variety of educational activities, students learned about the properties of liquids and solids, explored the different structures found on a farm, and discovered the dedication and hard work behind Ontario’s dairy industry.

The visit from Dairy Farmer Dawn featured lively songs, educational videos, interactive games, and hands-on activities designed to bring the world of farming to life. Kindergarten students had an especially memorable opportunity to try their hand at making butter, turning a classroom lesson into a delicious experience.

The butter-making process quickly became a favourite activity, as eager students sampled their homemade creations on crackers. The experience offered a fun and tangible way to understand how everyday dairy products are made and the journey food takes before reaching family kitchens.

Students also received special dairy-themed memorabilia to take home, including cow-shaped erasers and pens, adding an extra touch of excitement to the day.

Beyond the fun and games, the visit provided a valuable opportunity for students to learn more about where their food comes from and to develop a greater appreciation for the farmers who help feed Ontario’s communities.

St. Benedict Catholic School extended its thanks to Dawn and Dairy Farmers of Canada for sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm, and passion for agriculture with the students.

With curiosity sparked, new knowledge gained, and plenty of smiles along the way, the visit was a memorable reminder that learning can be both educational and enjoyable, with a few “moo-ments” to remember for years to come.
