Bishop Allen Academy Project Overview

Enrolment at Bishop Allen Academy has grown significantly in recent years, with the school outgrowing its existing facility with 24 portables on site. To address enrolment pressures and replace the aging facility, the Board submitted a Capital Priorities request to the Ministry of Education. In 2020, the request was approved, with Bishop Allen receiving $36 million in funding for a new replacement school.

The new three-storey school will accommodate 1,300 students and feature:

  • Modern classrooms and labs for science, technology, arts, business, and special education

  • A bright central chapel for reflection and community gatherings

  • A triple gymnasium, fitness room, and theatre arts space with a stage connecting to the cafetorium

  • Outdoor spaces including a six-lane running track, full-size sports field, and seating with ravine views

  • Student gathering areas, a Learning Commons, and restored walking trails connecting to the community
