St. Demetrius Catholic School

Parent Council

Parents and guardians play a significant role in ensuring the success of our students.

Our Catholic School Parent Council (CSPC) provides a forum for families to understand, engage and support issues that affect the education of our students. Our CSPC members include parents/guardians, school administration team members and community representatives.

Every year we plan and execute exciting initiatives and events for our school.  These events give the opportunity to supplement and enhance our students' academic, athletic, and spiritual school experiences.  The way we achieve these goals are through the funds generated from Activity fees, Pizza Lunches, Coffee Sundays, and Lunch Lady.

These monies help pay for activities such as:

  • St. Nicholas' visit to our school.

  • Pysanky supplies.

  • Malanka.

  • Graduation costs.

  • First Holy Communion costs.

  • Presentations by authors, musicians, artists and more.

  • Fun Day activities.

  • Transportation for Track and Field and Cross Country.

  • Upgrades to our musical instruments.

  • Upgrades to our gym equipment.

  • And other activities that run throughout the school year.

Volunteers

Thank you to all the parents and community members who volunteer their time, because without you none of what we try to achieve would be possible.

Thank you to those who came out to volunteer at:  Terry Fox, Bazaar, St. Nicholas preparations, Malanka, Field trips, Scientist in School, Pizza Lunches, Pysanky and more.  Once again, without you we could not succeed with what we do.

Allergies and Cookies

There are a number of students in our school that have life threatening allergies to certain nuts.  A few years back, it was proposed and passed that no baked goods would be brought to school to celebrate birthdays, to help prevent any severe allergic reactions.  Since then we have received some questions as to why council can sell cookies during pizza lunches.  The reason we are able to provide this option is  because we have researched cookie companies and only use a company that makes the cookies in a peanut/nut free zone making this a 100% safe product to give to all of our students.

Agendas

We would like to thank the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Credit Union for donating the agendas for all our students at St. Demetrius School.  For many years the credit union has paid for this service.  Many thanks.
