St. John Bosco Catholic School was honoured to welcome Jason, our Indigenous liaison, for a meaningful and engaging learning experience with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and our whole school community.

Jason shared his knowledge of Indigenous dot art, introducing students to its importance, meaning, and cultural significance. Through his presentations, students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Indigenous art, culture, and traditions.

Following each presentation, students put their learning into practice through an authentic, hands-on activity. Using the dot art techniques they had learned, students created their own beautiful dot art feathers. The activity encouraged creativity and reflection while giving students an opportunity to connect their learning with Indigenous perspectives.

As a whole school community, we are very grateful to Jason for sharing his knowledge, time, and expertise with the St. John Bosco community. His visit provided our students with a memorable and meaningful opportunity to learn, create, and reflect as we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
