Digital Learning Integration

Digital Learning Integration equips educators with the tools, training, and strategies to bring technology into the classroom in meaningful ways. By supporting educators, Digital Learning Integration helps create learning environments where students can thrive in a digital world.

How does this impact students?

  • Engaging and innovative learning: When teachers use technology effectively, students experience lessons that are interactive, creative, and connected to real-world skills.

  • Future-ready skills: Through teacher-led integration, students build critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy—skills essential for success beyond school.

  • Safe and responsible technology use: Digital Learning Integration ensures educators model and teach digital citizenship, helping students navigate online spaces responsibly.

  • Access to modern tools: From learning platforms to creative apps and emerging technologies like AI, students benefit from resources that make learning dynamic and relevant.

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Learning

What is Generative AI?

While traditional AI analyzes existing data to make predictions, Generative AI uses that data to create something entirely new.

Artificial Intelligence isn't new, but Generative AI is changing the game. Unlike Traditional/Predictive AI, which acts like a curator—recommending movies or flagging grammar mistakes—Generative AI acts like a creator. It doesn't just analyze; it builds. Whether it's Google Gemini drafting a practice quiz or an image generator visualizing a history project, we are here to help educators, parents/guardians, and students navigate these powerful new creative tools responsibly, safely, and ethically to support and enrich learning.

Innovation in Our Classrooms: A Team Approach to Generative AI

This year we will be introducing Generative AI to support the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) Multi-Year Strategic Plan. Our goal is to prepare students for the digital future by using these tools thoughtfully to enhance—not replace—quality teaching.

We are strictly following the TCDSB Generative AI Guidelines to ensure a safe, personal, and innovative learning environment. Success depends on a partnership between home and school:

Students will:

  • Use AI as a helpful aid, not a replacement for their own work.

  • Cite AI usage honestly and keep personal information private.

  • Question AI outputs and use tools respectfully, aligning with Catholic values.

Parents and guardians can:

  • Discuss the pros and cons of AI at home.

  • Encourage children to verify information and support the school’s academic honesty policies.

  • Reach out to teachers with any questions.

Together, we are building responsible digital citizens.

TCDSB Guidelines and Important Information

The TCDSB AI Guidelines must be followed when using Generative AI tools. They will be updated as needed and are available on the TCDSB website.

Approved AI Tools for TCDSB Students

The following tools are approved for student use under these conditions:

  • The TCDSB Generative AI Guidelines must be followed.

  • The tool must be logged in with the students' TCDSB user account and password.

  • Use of AI tools by students is at the discretion of the teacher and/or administrator.
